I liked that it does not just give you the basics for the geometry of GMAT, but more additional exercises and formulas, all thoroughly and clearly explained. It is a very targeted book. I would recommended on top of the Official GMAT Guide.

A great book in the Manhattan GMAT prep line up... don't that the test without it.

This is one useful guide to helping you through the GMAT quant section. I've read some math fundamental books leading up to this one and this book did a wonderful job of building towards a more intermediate/advanced explanation. It's a very long book but it's dense and packed with great information. The questions at the end of the chapters are challenging and help you absorb the material in an effective fashion. Highly recommended!

Foundational but little more than that

I enjoyed the book, but was originally expecting something MORE about groups and more in general. In reality this is just for your geeky brother that can't make friends by himself or that shy co worker you know is great but just can't show it. Talking, mingling and meeting new people (ie. I was the kid all the adults new by name but not because of the parents) is fun for me but I'm a 100X better one on one than in a group. Is there a good book for that? Anyway, good book just not as in depth. Foundational but little more.

Great author, Great read.

Penelope Fletcher is SUCH an amazing author. I am addicted to her books, and feel like I'm going through withdrawals when waiting for the next one to release! This book was so great. The characters were so vivid and fun! The story line was captivating and never dull. I absolutely love the creativity and imagination she puts into really typical mythical creatures to make them something new and interesting! I can't wait for the next book.

What can I say about this book, first let me say I give it 4 1/2 stars and that I freaking love this author's writing. This is the 2nd book I've read and I love the characters she writes about, and their stories. I want to write more, but some books are better not spoiled. All I can say is try it, you can't help but love the people in this story.

PS This is standalone, I wish more of her books were stand alones...

A Bit Disappointed

This is a newer version of a songbook that was first published in 1981, I believe. The saddest part is that six of the songs previously in the book are no longer there. Those songs are: "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus," "Mary's Little Boy Child," "My Favorite Things," "Silver Bells," "Sleep Well Little Children," and "Toyland." If you specifically want any of those songs, I suggest you look for a previous edition of this book.

Great Song Book

I have the old version of this book from the 80's. This is exactly the same with the exception of maybe one page and this one has a new cover and a CD. The song selection is great. I use this for playing the piano. My skill level is not very advanced so this is challenging enough for me without being too difficult. I bought this copy for a friend who liked my old one and wanted one for herself. Excellent buy.

This is BY FAR the BEST collection of Celtic music for acoustic guitar

I have the book and the CD. This is BY FAR the BEST collection of Celtic music for acoustic guitar. The music is simply beautiful... if you are into Celtic music that is. William Coulter's guitar work is just superb... It's not pretentious...not overdone... he presents Celtic music as it is...simple and beautiful... and I am Korean by descent... ironic isn't it? As the first reviewer said, this is NOT for the beginners at all. Beginners, just listen and enjoy the music and be inspired to get better. If you want to play some of these music, get some lessons on DADGAD first. I suggest Al Petteway (one of the best DADGAD players in the world) , El McMeen (even though he's not so DADGAD), Martin Simpson, etc... If you consider yourself to be an intermediate player and are somewhat familiar with DADGAD and other alternate tunings, I think this is well worth your $$. FYI, this isn't necessarily for Solo guitar because there are other instruments involved but hey, you can make it work!!! Did I say this might be the BEST collection of Celtic guitar ever?

Superb arrangement by a master fingerstyle guitarist. These are not easy and not for beginners. They appear to be note-for-note transcriptions from his CD. Wonderful songs. If you have a good guitar and are an intermediate player or better, these are some of the Celtic arrangements you can find. His arrangement of Si bheag Si mhor is worth the price of the book by itself.

Excellent book for the beginner

This book is an excellent book for a beginner in mushroom identification or a casual nature-lover. The colour photographs are pleasing to look at, which is always a bonus for a beginner; and the science is easy. It even has a section with recipes for any good fungi you find.
The points it falls down on are its lack of text detail about each fungus, it does not include gill type or smell etc. Also the key is not suitable for use in the field because the spore colour is a major part of it, which is not readily observed in the field. But of course this isn't really a field guide, it is far too big to take out(although having said that I have done so).
Overall this is a very good book.

Great starter book

I bought another book on mushroom identification at the bookstore. I didnt "plan" to buy it when I was there but I had always been secretly curious about wild mushrooms. That first book wasn't all that good so it led me to the local library in search of better illustrated and more detailed mushroom books. This book has great pictures and discriptions. I was simply amazed at the amount and quality of wild mushrooms available close to my home. As it turns out this is one book that is directly related to my new mushroom collecting obsession. In a very short time I was comfortably collecting many varieties of wild mushrooms. Now, I want this copy for myself!

About the Author

Maurizio Spurio is a Professor of Physics at the University of Bologna where he teaches Particle and Astroparticle physics.
With his research he is involved in experimental physics, with particular interest in high-energy physics without particle accelerators and astroparticle physics.
He�was member of the MACRO experiment at Gran Sasso underground laboratory, which provided a deep study of the penetrating component of the cosmic radiation including the observation of atmospheric neutrino oscillations. Since 2001 he is member of the ANTARES experiment (the first neutrino telescope in the sea), currently in charge as deputy spokesperson.
Professor Spurio has already co-authored/edited 4 Springer books.

I've been using this book to study for my comprehensive exams in astrophysics. It's pretty good, the derivations are clear and its thorough without giving a lot of extraneous information (basic knowledge of physics is definitely required). I only have one gripe, which may not be the authors fault: only about half of the graphs and pictures are in color. However, many of the graphs in black and white have labels such as "the red line shows [insert phenomena here] and the blue line shows [insert other phenomena]". Of course, printing both lines in grayscale makes the plots very hard to interpret.
